Our 8-Step Weed Control Program

America's Best Lawncare offers a Yearly 8-Step Weed Control Program which incorporates weed control on every application. Treatments take place on your property roughly every 6-8 weeks. 14-21 days following each service you will begin to notice your weeds wilting and turning yellow or brown. This is necessary for them to die off. The three main factors that will keep weeds coming back are low mowed grass, compacted soil and water deprivation. Keeping up with a proper lawn maintenance schedule is imperative to keeping weeds at bay. Scroll down a little further to educate yourself on the proper maintenance schedule. Please visit our Lawn Fertilization Page to get a breakdown of the Program's features.

What type of mowing and watering schedule should I follow to get the most out of my weed control treatments?

We recommend having your lawn mowed before we apply a fertilizer or weed control treatment. This keeps the products from getting clumped up and unevenly spread out. Too many chemicals in one spot can damage your lawn. Another option is to wait at least 24 hours to mow after we have applied a fertilizer or weed control treatment. We do have a 100% satisfaction guarantee, so if ever in doubt, we’re happy to set up a free service call 7-10 days after the initial treatment if needed.

We ask that you scalp your lawn 1x a year after the Winter ends and before Spring begins. When you start to see your lawn turning GREEN, please begin this process on the 1st mow. Cut your grass on its shortest setting and bag the clippings just this once. "Out with the old, in with the new." Mowing very other week during Spring is recommended until you see RAPID growth of your turf. Once this takes place, mowing 1x per week is ideal. Try not to cut off more than 1/3 of the grass blade per mow. The reason for this is to keep your lawn thick and green during fertilization rounds. If you cut it too short, you will eliminate why you hired us! - Which means it will cut the green out and it will turn brown...EWWW! During the Spring & Summer months mowing height for Bermuda lawns should be cut at 2 inches, Saint Augustine lawns should be cut at 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 inches and Zoysia lawns should be cut at 2 - 3 inches. Spring Watering should occur at a rate of 1-2x per week (in the absence of rainfall) 10-12 minutes per zone. THIS IS JUST AN ESTIMATION. Summer Watering should occur 3x per week (in the absence of rainfall) 10-12 minutes per zone. THIS IS JUST AN ESTIMATION. In the Fall we ask that you move your watering back to 1-2 days per week at 5-8 minutes per zone. We also ask that you mow every other week instead of once a week until November 1st. At that time you can cease all mowing until Spring of next year. Also starting the 1st week of November, you can cut down your watering to 1x a week, in the absence of rainfall.

What to expect before, during and after we come to your property?

BEFORE:

  • We offer a text & email feature for all customers, which sends a notification 1 day prior to your treatment as a courtesy. Please note these reminders are not always set in stone as anything can occur on a given day in our industry, weather playing the biggest factor. All customers also have the option of adding a note to their account for us to contact them 30 minutes prior to arrival on their property.

  • It is not necessary to be home during your scheduled service, however; we do ask that you have your gates unlocked and animals put up. Forgetting to unlock your gate on treatment date unfortunately does happen from time to time and would require us to reschedule you. However; there is no need to panic - We will do our very best to return at a later date to complete the service(s) you signed up for.

DURING:

  • On each visit to your home, our technicians inform every customer by knocking or ringing their doorbell, that we have arrived to complete their service(s). If any customer prefers us not to disturb them, please let us know and we will add a note to your account.

  • Upon exiting your property, our technicians will always blow off any access fertilizer that is not touching your turf grass. We do this so it will not stain your concrete.

AFTER:

  • After each service, we will leave a leaflet on your door that will go over what we did for that day and any recommendations or instructions for you to follow. If we find disease or insect issue, we will also reach out via email to discuss pricing and scheduling of services.

  • We will send an invoice over to you via email after your service is complete from the previous week. Everyone gets an invoice, whether you are prepaid or pay per application. If you are a prepaid customer, you invoice will always be marked to $0. The reason for sending invoices, is so that our customers always have a paper trail of the visits performed on their property. Our Online Portal also gives a breakdown of service(s) performed.

  • If a customer, at any time, has any questions or concerns in between treatments, it is best to communicate with us via email at Americasbestfamilybiz@gmail.com or making a phone call to our office at 469-631-7473. We are here to help you every step of the way.
